TUP-FSG 2015 Engages New Board Resolutions

With the goal to promote and protect students’ rights, welfare and development, and to open doors for improvement and betterment of the University, the Technological University of the Philippines – Federation of Student Governments (TUP–FSG) engaged new Board Resolutions during its 1st General Assembly on August 20-23, at the TUP – Visayas Campus and Mambukal Highlands Resort in Negros Occidental.

The event, hosted by the University Student Government of TUP-Visayas, kicked off with talks on Leadership delivered by the TUP – Visayas Administration, followed by the discussion and deliberation of house bills, drafted by USG officers of the four TUP Campuses.

After four days and three nights of debate, detailed modification and deliberation, the Federation thereby adopted nine (9) out of twenty two (22) house bills into TUP-FSG Board Resolutions. The following are the Board Resolutions approved by the Federation:

  1. BOARD RESOLUTION No. 11 S.Y. 2015 – 2016
    A RESOLUTION ALLOWING THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (TUP) STUDENT TO PAY AT LEAST THE MISCELLANEOUS FEE ONLY UPON ENROLLMENT AT ANY GIVEN SCHOOL SEMESTER/TERM
  1. BOARD RESOLUTION No. 12 S.Y. 2015 – 2016
    A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE CLINIC OPERATING HOURS OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (TUP)
  1. BOARD RESOLUTION No. 13 S.Y. 2015-2016
    A RESOLUTION IMPLEMENTING ANTI-SMOKING CAMPAIGN IN THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (TUP)
  1. BOARD RESOLUTION No. 14 S.Y. 2015-2016
    A RESOLUTION MANDATING THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILPPINES (TUP) SYSTEM TO HAVE UNIFIED STUDENT HOURS EVERY WEDNESDAY, 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM

    A RESOLUTION ALLOWING THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES MANILA – UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT (TUPM – USG) TO SPEARHEAD THE GEARBOOK COMMITTEE
  1. BOARD RESOLUTION No. 16 S.Y. 2015 – 2016
    A RESOLUTION GRANTING AUTHORITY TO THE UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT (USG) OF EACH TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (TUP) CAMPUS TO DIRECTLY ALLOCATE AND UTILIZE THE STUDENT DEVELOPMENT FUND (SDF)

    A RESOLUTION LEGALIZING SOLICITATION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE BURIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM IN THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (TUP)
  1. BOARD RESOLUTION No. 19 S.Y. 2015-2016
    A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR THE AMENDMENT OF GUIDELINES FOR THE GRANT OF INCENTIVES TO THE OFFICERS OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES TAGUIG – UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT (TUPT – USG) CHARGEABLE AGAINST THE STUDENT DEVELOPMENT FUND (SDF)

Hon. Myra C. Catibog, TUP Student Regent, was confident and very optimistic that above-mentioned Board Resolutions will be approved in the 2nd Quarter Board of Regents Meeting and will take effect immediately.

Furthermore, the Federation has already ratified and raised some Board Resolutions on the 1st Quarter Board of Regents Meeting last June 2015, which are waiting for implementation.

Here are those:

BOARD RESOLUTION No. 5 S.Y. 2015-2016 entitled, “A RESOLUTION ESTABLISHING “’SANTUGON” AS THE OFFICIAL UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT (USG) PUBLICATION”

BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 6 S.Y. 2015-2016 entitled, “A RESOLUTION WAIVING THE LIBRARY FEE OF STUDENTS TAKING THE SUPERVISED INDUSTRIAL TRAINING (SIT) SUBJECT OFF-CAMPUS AT TECHNOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY OF THE PHILIPPINES (TUP)”

BOARD RESOLUTION NO. 8 S.Y. 2015-2016 entitled, “A RESOLUTION MANDATING TICKETING FOR ALL INCOME GENERATING PROJECTS (IGPs)/EVENTS AND COLLECTION OF MEMBERSHIP FEE OF THE UNIVERSITY STUDENT GOVERNMENT (USG), ACCREDITED CLUBS AND STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS (ACSO), AND THE PHILIPPINE ARTISAN (PA)”

These are clear manifestations of the TUP-FSG officers’ collaborative actions and hard work as they continue to stand firm and strive for the students’ rights, welfare, and development. (J.E.L. Isoy)
